If your customer speaks slowly when she is speaking, you speak slowly when you are speaking.
If your customer speaks quickly while she is speaking, you speak quickly while you are speaking.
If your customer uses humor when talking to you, you use humor when talking to him.
If your customer is very serious when talking to you, you respond by being very serious also.
If your customer rubs his chin while thinking, you rub your chin while thinking.
There are an unlimited number of possible ways to mirror your customers and you'll quickly discover this as you improve the skill. Using this technique to match your customer's behavior will subconsciously create rapport because on a deeper level, your customer will feel connected to you, but on the conscious level, will not be aware that it is because you are mirroring his/her behavior. Psychologically, people always feel more connected with others that have similar behaviors and traits to their own behaviors and traits.
So master these skills and you will be able to gain rapport in anyone you meet. Plus, you'll notice a tremendous increase in your success on all levels of your life.
